Maggie
|
Maggie was found wandering the streets and turned into a kill shelter. While there, she developed a condition known as "happy tail". That occurs when a dog hits their tail so hard against the kennel walls that they actually damage their tail to the point of needing medical attention. After six months of trying to save the tail tip, and miles of bandages, it was determined that the tip would have to be removed. Maggie has now recovered from the surgery and is looking forward for a home to call her own. Capable of jumping 4 ft fences gracefully (I've watched her), she requires a 6 ft fenced yard or to be leash walked. Very affectionate with her people, she is alittle shy around young children(under seven). Is good with other dogs and will give appropriate corrections if a dog oversteps its bounds. Once she settles in, she is easy to live with.

Bear
 |
Bear is a Belgian Sheepdog (Groenendahl) who enjoys tugging on pantlegs, a habit that his owners encouraged for him to do. Unfortunately, because of this behavior, the local court declared him a "dangerous dog" and his family was told to confine him to his property or onlead off his property. Things went well until they had a family get together and a guest allowed Bear to leave the property unleashed. As fate would have it, Bear was caught in violation of his parole and was sentenced by the court to be euthanized. The owners were distraught that Bear should suffer because of their guest's irresonsibility, and brought myself and another trainer into court to plead for Bear's life. After a thorough evaluation, we both agreed that Bear was not dangerous, but rather in need of finding another way to solicit attention. The court agreed with us and Bear has been in my custody for almost a year. During that time I have worked with Bear and his pant tugging incidents have been steadily decreasing to the point where I feel that he can go into an experienced home. Bear was raised with the grandchilren and loves to be with his people. He can be alittle pushy, but takes correction very nicely. I believe that Bear will be a very good dog in the right home and that he deserves to be given that "clean slate".

Bear was born in July 1997.
